Life with FAMILY

When we gain a new family member, we have thing we do. We count to three and on one accord shout with smiles and joy, “Welcome to the family of God!”

This is important to us because we know that beneath every forced smile or protective mug, everyone desires and was created to be accepted.

FAMILY is about more than acceptance though. God created the family for you to be:

  • Protected - A family member that physically, sexually, or in any other violating way, hurts us, is outside of the will of God.

  • Provided for - though roles within the household structure have changed drastically in recent years, with family we should not have to go without basic needs and care. Not everyone will have the same chores and responsibilities, but team work makes the dream work!

  • Corrected - It serves us well to be surrounded by trust worthy individuals who are confident and comfortable enough to call us out on our ways. We should also feel comfortable inviting them to do so, knowing that their perspective will aide in the decisions we make and way we live. Did you know that you are not always right?

  • Loved - While no one can love us like Christ, Christ does instruct us to love like Him as best we can. Husbands are to love their wives, Wives are to love their husbands, children are to love their parents and obey them, parents are to love their children and not tempt them, and every one of us are to love the next person as we love ourselves.

What if I have unruly parents? Drug addicted and violent parents?

What if my uncle is mean? What if my sister is jealous?

What if my neighbor is spiteful, complicated and unloveable?

Well, there are answers for this that are not so easily answered. We are sure to touch these topics if you visit one of our services. Until then or otherwise, know that you have your issues and Jesus loves you the same.
